We are a pair of artists to whom clay has become a favourite medium. Fate brought us together at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw where we were studying sculpture in Prof. Jan Kucz class. The results in our union were impressive; three handsome boys and ample amounts of various ceramic vessels. Bringing up children was interlaced with searching for new ceramic technologies, patterns and colours.
New lines developed into coffee and tea sets, frames for mirrors, fireplace surrounds and paintings on tiles. In one of the Polish art magazines, you would have read, ‘from clay they can make everything’.
Two artists under one roof both with their own artistic visions wanting to be realised: difficult, but not impossible. Although our styles and ways are different, in the last few years the art of under glaze painting brought our passions together. After painting yet another tile or platter we wonder where our loyalty lies, are we sculptors or are we painters? Ceramics are probably the only domain of art that can so beautifully combine the two disciplines.
The effects of our work are a source of joy, and of even greater satisfaction if liked by others. We have been displaying our work in Poland, Denmark, Germany, Russia and Great Britain. Everywhere we have met people interested in our art, and many have become friends. We are very happy to talk to you about our ceramics.
